I work for a general contractor and have worked professionally with Environment West on many commercial projects over the years. The crew at Environment West transformed the pile of basalt that surrounded our new home into a beautiful outdoor space. Our landscape architect worked wonders with a challenging site. He had a vision of what our yard could look like that we never would have seen ourselves.  He created a design that used the some of the rock and incorporated lots of native plants that are low maintenance but that will provide lots of texture and color year round. He was very receptive to our ideas and always available to meet or to talk as the plan evolved through the installation process. Environment West got the job completed on time and within the budget. We would work with them again on any future project and highly recommend them!

My wife and I have worked with Environment West for 3 years. We first met with them to put in our back yard in our new home. Environment west was responsive, sat with us several times with modified plans of what our vision was for the backyard landscape project. They offered suggestions, advised us on what would fit the area, and what would work best in the Spokane climate. During the day while we were at work, Environment west would call to confirm specifics of what we wanted as they moved forward with the project. We were so pleased with the outcome, we hired them the following year to help develop an intricate and large water feature to run through the back yard. We were looking for a Japanese garden type theme. After meeting with the landscape architect, we were very impressed with the plans and scope of work. We couldn't be happier, with the service and expertise provided by Environment West. We spend every moment we can in the back yard, and have plans to do further landscaping. My wife and I were so excited to move into our new home that we failed to recognize the disastrous back yard we were inheriting. We had no ideas as to what we wanted in a back yard nor what it should look like from a design perspective. Our architect designed a plan that was practical in what our yard physically needed as well as appealing for our family to enjoy. Throughout the entire process every employee my wife and I dealt with demonstrated exceptional professionalism and the customer service was top notch. The landscaping crew arrived bright and early every day until the project was complete. They were all polite and courteous and everyone worked like they wanted to be there, like they really enjoyed their work and to me that was refreshing. Anytime my wife or I had question we felt very comfortable in approaching any member of the team and asking them our questions and if that individual did not know the answer he would find someone that did. Our project was small yet it made our small street very crowded however the crew was so persistent at cleaning up at the end of the day one would never suspect there was anything happening during the day. After the project was complete we had the sprinkler technician complete a walk through demonstration on the operation of the sprinkler system and how to maintain the system. Environment West is a fantastic company with great employees, I highly recommend them to anyone contemplating having landscape work done or searching for landscaping ideas. The team from Environment West took an old front and back yard that had been initially installed in 1980 and made it a world class environment. Their total involvement in the renewal of our yards made it something that one neighbor requested "Please leave an opening in your fence so we can see it-it looks like a park".

The renewal was comprehensive; design, demolition/tree removal, grading, sprinklers, fencing, concrete/payer installation, garden boxes, leveling, exterior lighting and planting of numerous varieties of plants selected with our location in mind. Ken made numerous trips to work with us to get it the way we wanted it. It all was expertly coordinated with Ken coordinating and overseeing every step. Ken was responsive and collaborative as we designed and refined the plan. The final plan exceeded our best expectations. We knew and approved the respective expense of the various options before any work was commenced. The crews that worked on our project were professional, friendly and competent. Not one uncomfortable situation occurred during the whole duration.

Ken and his team were excellent communicators as to the schedule and progress of the project. We always knew what was going to happen and when. This one asset made Environment West worth their selection as so many other contractors expect you to guess when something is going to happen.

The final price was as agreed upon and wherever a saving could be found, it was applied to the project.

Finally, the follow up has been unbelievable. Numerous corrections, adjustments and replacements have been applied with no additional cost.

In summary, we could not be happier with what could have been a miserable project. The team from Environment West went so far above that the norm that our yards will be source of pride and enjoyment for years to come.

Environment West has provided us with a beautiful home landscape. Starting with our designer, Jon Fergen, we met first at the office to discuss our general ideas on what we wanted on our property, then Jon created a well-laid out plan, with suggested plants and trees. We moved into a house with an unfinished back yard and had plans drawn to finish the yard and put in a pool. The architect was creative but failed to listen to our interests and came up with, in our opinion, a ridiculously expensive plan. We then contracted Environment West and worked extensively with Ken Laxton who first listened to us and then modified the plans(at no expense) to something better than either of us had thought was possible at a price within our budget. Last summer we contracted with Environment West to redesign and re-landscape our backyard. Our project was extensive, and included adding trees, replacing sod and shrubs, placing rocks, a new sprinkler system, building a larger deck to accommodate a hot tub, replacing our wood fence and re-contouring a portion of the yard to provide exercise space for our two vigorous border collies. We feel extremely fortunate to have had Ken Laxton as our project manager. He was very creative in providing solutions for us and from the drawing of the plans to the planting of the last shrub, he was professional, resourceful, pleasant, a great listener and patient with our endless questions throughout. He was also sensitive to our budget. He did a remarkable job of scheduling all the crews’ earth movers, carpenters, electricians, fence installers, sod and shrub planting crew, etc. He is well respected and has solid working relationships with many related companies in Spokane, such as our hot tub vendor, which made it worry free for us. Everything was handled efficiently and professionally by both Ken and those he brought in to perform each function. And best of all, we love the results!!
